
Cotopaxi National Park closed because of Volcanic activity
The popular Cotopaxi national park in Ecuador has been closed temporarily because of increased volcanic activity. The volcano is located 30 miles (50 km) from Quito. President Correa declared a state of emergency in Ecuador as hundreds of people in nearby towns have already been evacuated. Keep an eye on this if you are planning to visit the Galapagos Islands since Quito is a popular stop to get there.

Germany heightens travel warning for Turkey
The German Foreign Ministry issued a more severe warning to tourists in Istanbul of possible terror attacks in the metro and at bus stops. The United States, Denmark and the United Kingdom also issued travel warnings.
